The John F. Kennedy Space Center is the site where all U.S. human space flight missions have launched. From the early days of Project Mercury to today's space shuttles, one of the best places to watch these dramatic events has been the Apollo/Saturn V Center conference room at the Space Center. Here, special guests ranging from worldwide government officials to the families of the astronauts themselves watch rocket launches in the comfort of an executive conference space. So when it was time to upgrade the seating in the conference room, not just any executive seating would do. NASA tried several different chairs and, not surprisingly, selected one that reflects both ergonomic and design innovation. Kennedy Space Center
When Humantech, Inc., the largest ergonomics consulting firm in North America, was picking out furniture for a facility move, the firm was resolved to seat its 45 Board Certified Professional Ergonomists in the best chair available. The firm tested four chairs against a series of objective and subjective criteria with the help of its own consultants of various body sizes. Out of the four, Leap was the only chair to meet all of the standards-based objective criteria. And, it earned the highest rating in nine out of 10 subjective evaluation categories. Testers used the chairs for three days and ranked Leap 19.5% more comfortable than the chair in second place-and 25% more adjustable. HumanTech, Inc.
