Our History

DS&D has been committed to helping people work more efficiently since our early beginnings as a New York City office furniture manufacturer. Like most success stories, ours began with one man's brave entrepreneurial spirit and incredible craftsmanship.

Today, our design-driven and innovative interior solutions are increasing workplace productivity through flexibility and comfort. Although we're no longer a manufacturer, our integrated approach allows us to be a single-source provider of furniture, architectural and technology products spanning the full range of office, education and laboratory applications.

As one of the nation's oldest companies, we take incredible pride in continuing the traditions and business principals entrusted in us for nearly two centuries. Today and as we have since 1829, DS&D stays sharply focused on our goal of fostering lifetime partnerships that our clients can depend on for our time honored expertise and world class customer service.

After 180 years, the products we offer have inevitably changed. Our commitment to excellence hasn't.

In the early 1900's the T.G. Sellew Co. relocated from its original location at 111 Fulton Street to 318 Broadway in the heart of New York City's Lower East Side. This early 19th century T.G. Sellew roll-top desk is now a rare and valuable antique collector's item. A classic Dancker & Sellew delivery van is photographed during New York City's historic rainfall during the Summer of 1953. This photograph is derived from a July 23 article in the 'New York World Telegram'. Commemorating its 125th anniversary in 1954, Dancker & Sellew placed this advertisement in the Wall Street Journal.
