Perxa Chair
Design Story
In Valencia, Spain, there is a large freshwater lagoon where rice is grown for the famed native dish, paella. Sailors have always navigated these waters with a humble wooden oar called a perxa. The Perxa Chair, by celebrated Italian designer Piero Lissoni, finds the essence of its form in this unlikely tradition. Made in solid ash and echoing the simple, curved lines of that tool, this namesake chair brings on cultural lineage together with another – sharing time-honored craftsmanship with artisan furniture.
