dancker partnered with American University to support the transformation of the Mary Graydon Student Center and the Meltzer / Scanlon Athletics Center, helping bring the University’s vision for vibrant, student-centered spaces to life. Aligned with AU’s mission, brand, and campus culture, our team translated core values into cohesive, purpose-driven environments that support connection, collaboration, and well-being.
The scope included strategic planning and highly adaptable, durable furnishings designed to enhance flexibility, minimize long-term waste, and support the evolving needs of students, faculty, and service teams. Spanning three floors, the project establishes a unified, brand-forward design language across student services, faculty workplaces, lounges, club spaces, collaborative zones, and focused study areas. The result is a holistic campus experience that fosters innovation and belonging—earning LEED Platinum certification and recognition as “one of the most beautiful student centers” by industry leadership.
“This is one of the most beautiful
