(Somerville, NJ – May, 2017) Integrated interior solutions firm, dancker, participated in the conversion of the 83,200 square foot East Rutherford YMCA with a custom, state-of the art technology system. A retrofit of a building formerly used as the Brooklyn Nets practice facility, the dancker workplace technology team created a solution that complemented DMR Architect’s design vision for the space. The integrated system enhances the customer experience and brand presence throughout the facility.

For the project, dancker’s technology solutions division designed and built a 12 channel broadcast network with over 80 endpoints that provides both broadcast television and customized content such as details on schedules, wayfinding throughout the facility, and much more. dancker installed nearly 100 players in and around the Technogym exercise machines and fitness areas, that use LG Supersign software to easily customize content. dancker also created special programming for children’s viewing in the daycare center.

“The partnership and collaboration between dancker and LG’s signage group provided the YMCA with total flexibility and a full range of customization possibilities, whether adding more channels or scheduling a daily menu switch for their cafe area’s sign,” commented George Meglio, Director of Workplace Technology at dancker.  He continues, “The goal was to have a highly complex system translate into a seamless and intuitive experience for visitors of the facility, and the final product successfully speaks to this goal.”

The software dancker employed, the LG Supersign W, is an advanced signage content management software that is web-based and can therefore remotely control and push out content to players, provide scheduling and video play, and track devices throughout the facility. Through the software’s scheduling system, content can be managed on a weekly, monthly, or even yearly basis, while the tracking and remote control functions allow different areas of the YMCA to function separately based on need.

The facility hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, May 19th with the President Jane Egan and the mayor of East Rutherford, Jim Cassella, in attendance. “Because of our other partners and staff, this new facility will be a beacon to the community; a center that supports health and families, invites diversity, and responds to the needs of many,” stated Jane Egan, President of the East Rutherford YMCA.

For dancker, the life cycle of a project goes beyond the ribbon cutting; because they are an authorized partner of LG, they have the special ability to provide training on the system for facility staff and ongoing support through a service help desk.

This project was implemented through dancker’s Workplace Technology Solutions division, launched in 2016 to improve efficiency in the workplace and foster collaboration for clients by seamlessly integrating technology with existing furniture and architectural solutions. The division continues to provide integrated technology that gives workers choices and seamless connectivity.
